Bachmann Calls It Quits After Losing Large In Native State Of Iowa

Michele Bachmann, who lost big with only 5% of the vote at last night’s Iowa Caucuses, has announced she is “suspending” her campaign, which, essentially means she is quitting. Bachmann this morning canceled her scheduled trip to South Carolina, a sure sign she was withdrawing, and in a press conference at 11:20 AM this morning, enveloped her announcement in religious doctrine. Bachmann also attacked “Obamacare,” the Affordable Care Act, and “taxpayer-funded abortion,” which is nonexistent. Bachmann, as she falsely stated last night, also suggested again she is not a politician. Bachmann is a three-term Congresswoman, who has also served as a state senator.

Bachmann vowed to continue to attempt to repeal Dodd-Frank  and “Obamacare.” She ludicrously claimed that President Obama’s “socialist policies” will destroy America.

Bachmann rattled off a list of issues she premises to continue to fight for, including “traditional marriage,” and stated this was America’s last chance to avoid ruin and destruction.

She repeatedly spoke the words “President Obama and his socialist policies.”

“Bachmann, 55, told a small group of supporters Tuesday night that she was staying in the presidential race — despite her sixth place finish — as the only true conservative who can defeat President Barack Obama. But her campaign is known to be low on money,” MSNBC reported earlier today.

Her campaign peaked early with a first place finish in the Iowa GOP’s summer straw poll, but by mid- to late September polling showed Bachmann in single digits. She focused her campaign efforts on Iowa, where she grew up.

CNN, prior to Bachmann’s announcement, discussed her credibility gap. John King noted a conversation he had with Bachmann — prior to her HPV vaccine comments — in which she noted she had made gaffes and mistakes. Apparently, Bachmann was unable to rein in her controversial and often false statements.

“Rep. Michele Bachmann will ‘suspend her campaign’ a senior campaign officials tells ABC News, just hours after placing last in the Iowa caucuses and vowing to continue in South Carolina,” ABC News reported:

Bachmann finished sixth in Tuesday’s Iowa caucus.

Iowa  has played a visible and vital role in Bachmann’s campaign since its inception.

It became the backdrop of her presidential bid when in June she announced her candidacy in her hometown of Waterloo.

It became the springboard for her stint, albeit short-lived, as the GOP frontrunner after she secured the top spot at the Ames Straw Poll in August.

And today it became the insurmountable hurdle that ended her run for the White House after she finished dead last among the GOP candidates competing in the Iowa caucus.

Bachmann, a three-term congresswoman from Minnesota, emerged on the national political scene riding the wave of Tea Party activism. As the founder of the Tea Party Caucus in Congress, Bachmann’s socially conservative, family-oriented approach initially captured the support of the staunch conservatives and evangelical Christians.

Bachmann, the second major GOP candidate this season to suspend a campaign, will still be able to raise money, apply for federal matching funds, and use all those funds to either re-enter the race, or to use those funds for her Congressional campaign.

Running for president can be very lucrative, win, lose, or draw.

The real question now: Will Minnesota voters re-elect Congresswoman Bachmann after her utterly failed campaign, and after she has embarrassed them so often?
