At Vigil For Decapitated Teen Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado, Speaker Quinn Stirs Emotions
New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn spoke tonight about the brutal decapitation, dismemberment, and burning of nineteen year old Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado in Puerto Rico on November 13. “Twenty cities across the country are saying, ‘This was a hate crime.’ This crime needs to be named as what it was.” Four to five hundred attended the Pier 45 event, which was organized by Scott Anthony Evans, among others.
