State by State, what’s going on with gay marriage:
States Gay Marriage Is Legal In:
Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa.
California: Awaiting decision on Prop 8, required by June 3.
New Hampshire: A gay marriage bill never made it out of committee last week.
Maine: A gay marriage bill is in the works and will be voted in committee Tuesday.
New Jersey: New Jersey lawmakers are likely to consider a gay marriage bill later this year. The Governor supports gay marriage.
Rhode Island: A gay marriage bill is in the legislature but is not expected to pass, and the governor has said he will veto it.
Washington: Governor expected to sign a bill extending domestic partnerships to have full benefits of marriage. No gay marriage bill in debate currently.
Washington, D.C.: Recognizes gay marriage from outside the district. Same-sex marriage is dubious because the Congress would have to approve it.
