Ann Coulter Joins Breitbart On Board Of Gay Tea Party Group GOProud

Anti-gay conservative columnist Ann Coulter has joined the Advisory Board of the gay conservative Tea Party Republican group GOProud, as “Honorary Chair and Gay Icon.” Coulter, who regularly espouses anti-gay rhetoric and hate speech, said in a statement released by GOProud, “I am honored to serve in this capacity on GOProud’s Advisory Council, and look forward to being the Queen of Fabulous.”

“Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”

Coulter, who is known for her controversial, anti-gay, and racist remarks, joins other right-wing extremist notables and radical conservative stalwarts like Margaret Hoover, Grover Norquist, Liz Mair, Chuck Muth, Lisa De Pasquale, Christian Josi, Roger Stone, Andrew Langer, Kathryn Serkes, Bob Carlstrom, and Andrew Breitbart on the GOProud Advisory Council. Breitbart is most famous for publishing and defending highly-edited and highly-discredited videos of so-called exposés of ACORN, Planned Parenthood, and Shirley Sherrod, the now-former FDA official who lost her job after a Breitbart-sponsored video led to her dismissal. Sherrod is now suing Breitbart and the suit was just green-lighted to proceed.

For her part, Coulter, despite being paid to headline a GOProud fundraiser last September (image from the event, top,) has consistently come out against the LGBT community, homosexuals, and issues related to gay rights. Coulter at the event drew massive amounts of criticism for comments like, “The equality clause is about just the blacks,” and, “Most parents don’t want their children learning about the ‘homosexual lifestyle’ instead of reading and writing.”

Late last month, Coulter riled many LGBTs, allies, and organizations by supporting the concept of “ex-gay” or “reparative” therapy, and saying to cable talk show host Joy Behar, “I not only want ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ for the military, I want ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ for all of society. Just give me a week where we’re not talking about gays.” Speaking about New York, Coulter said, “OK, the media capital of the world has gay marriage, can we move on now?” Coulter also said, “I not only don’t want open gays in the military, I don’t want open girls in the military.”

The gay Republican group Log Cabin Republicans denounced Coulter’s comments, calling them, “clownish,” “stale,” and a “throwback.”

In June, Coulter told Piers Morgan, “I would tell my gay son (if I had one) that he was adopted.”

In December of last year, just before the bill to repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell became law, Coulter penned a column titled, “Bradley Manning: Poster Boy For ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’.” Manning is the gay service member who delivered massive amounts of leaked confidential military and diplomatic data to Wikileaks.
