Andrew Sullivan on Losing A Battle But (Ultimately) Winning The War

“...if the gay movement is a moral movement at its core, if our goal is to speak to the truth of our lives regardless of the consequences, losing is not the worst thing that can happen. Winning illegitimately or prematurely could be worse.

Andrew Sullivan, conservative author, blogger, political commentator, and gay iconic figure, reminds us that the battle for gay rights and gay marriage is a noble one, one we must fight fairly every day. As I continue to say, “Part of the reason Proposition 8 in California won was because we just didn’t win people over.” It’s time to do so, honoring our selves and our democracy by winning everyone over, one mind at a time.
