“Vice President” Allen West: Gay Marriage An Unimportant “Rabbit Hole”
Republican Tea Party Congressman Allen West today told CNN that yes, he would of course be happy to be Mitt Romney’s Vice President — if asked, of course. Nothing like subtlety, you know. West, known primarily for his wildly false statements and strong homophobia, also told CNN that same-sex marriage equality is unimportant, and labeled it a “rabbit hole,” which, given West’s former military service, makes one wonder if he meant to say, “fox hole,” which just makes one wonder…
Via The Blaze:
Congressman Allen West apparently isn’t interested in social issues while the economy is still bad. In an interview with Kyra Phillips of CNN, West dismissed the question sharply as a “rabbit hole†that liberals try to use to distract people from the real issues.
“I think right now there are a lot of people that try to take you down a rabbit hole to discuss things that really aren’t that important,†West said. Phillips pushed him.
“Are you saying that is not important?†she asked.
“I think if you poll the American people, Kyra, I don’t think they’re going to bring up gay marriage as one of their top concerns,†West snapped. “Gay marriage is not as big as the gas prices. The gas prices from when President Obama came into office was $1.84. Gas prices are now over $3 dollars…I think the best thing that you can do to help me and help out America: let’s stay focused on the things that are critical to the American people right now, and not try to create some type of situation where you try to take me down into a rabbit hole.â€
Of course, if Congress in the dead of night passed a bill deeming all heterosexual marriages null and void and rabbit holes, I would think you might damn well bet Congressman West would be overthrowing the government with the military commanders he has claimed are in his pocket.
