‘The New Normal’ Takes On Catholic Church — And Gays Who Won’t ‘Fight For Their Souls’

Ryan Murphy, creator of NBC’s “The New Normal” is going all out, taking on both the Catholic Church for its anti-gay policies, and gay people who “demanded the right to fight for their country, but for their souls? Nope.”

One Million Moms and the Catholic League will freak out in 5, 4, 3…

As I’ve stated before, I wasn’t a fan of “The New Normal” after the first episode, but each one gets better and better. Last night’s was particularly poignant.

The Catholic priest in “The Godparent trap,” last night’s episode, likens the Pope to a “nutty uncle,” and delivers an excellent monologue urging gay people to fight for their rights from the only place we haven’t — much: the Catholic Church.

Pope Benedict XVI has declared an international war on gay people and marriage equality, and yet America’s Catholics are among the most accepting and supportive of the LGBT community.
