Mitt Romney is an empty vessel, with neither opinion nor position of his own. At about 11:00 AM ET on Sunday morning’s Meet The Press, Romney made surprisingly positive comments about two of the main and very popular planks of Obamacare: pre-existing condition coverage, and allowing adults up to the age of 26 remaining on their parents’ plans.
“Of course there are a number of things that I like in health care reform that I’m going to put in place,” he said in an interview broadcast Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press, Mother Jones reported.”One is to make sure that those with pre-existing conditions can get coverage.” Romney also said he would allow young adults to keep their coverage under their parents’ health-insurance.
By 5:00 PM Sunday afternoon, Romney’s handlers had made sure to walk back the mere possibility of Romney supporting any aspect of Obamacare.
Noting that it “would also be nice if the mainstream press reported the fact that Romney doesn’t plan to make sure those with preexisting conditions can get health coverage just as loudly as they reported his original misstatement,” Kevin Drum at Mother Jones, in “Within Hours, Mitt Romney Takes Back Everything He Said About Preexisting Conditions,” noted that a “few hours later, with approximately zero people listening, a spokesman quietly ‘clarified’ what he meant”:
In reference to how Romney would deal with those with preexisting conditions and young adults who want to remain on their parents’ plans, a Romney aide responded that there had been no change in Romney’s position and that “in a competitive environment, the marketplace will make available plans that include coverage for what there is demand for. He was not proposing a federal mandate to require insurance plans to offer those particular features.â€
Mitt Romney, it turns out, seems like several of Jon Lovitz’s incarnations. You remember Lovitz, who, just like Romney’s various positions, was popular in some crowds, a few decades ago.
Romney has — like the leader of his party Ronald Reagan — revealed he has merely been “acting.”

Romney is a pathological liar.
And, of course, then there’s the whole taxes thing.
The bottom line take away is 100% crystal clear: Mitt Romney is not running for president. Mitt Romney’s major donors, handlers, and policy makers — like Grover Norquist — are using the empty vessel that is Mitt Romney, to run for president.
Norquist, you’ll remember, in February revealed the real GOP platform:
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared.
Sadly, if Romney wins, the joke will be on us.
