Take conservative talk show host Stan Solomon, who is not known for mincing words. Ordinarily, Solomon would be in the trash bin and never make it to these pages, but he has one thing that changes the equation. Mainstream politicians and activists — people you see on cable news outlets like Fox and CNN, actually agree to be interviewed by him. People like E.W. Jackson, who is the Republican nominee currently running for Lt. Governor of Virginia. People like Larry Pratt, who has been all over CNN as the head of Gun Owners of America. People like top conservative matron Phyllis Schlafly. And people like former presidential candidate and former Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate Alan Keyes.
That’s why we cover people like Stan Solomon — because we want our readers to share with their friends and families who’s “in bed” with whom. Have a relative who is going to vote for E.W. Jackson? Share this with them.
Stan Solomon opened a recent show saying he doesn’t want anyone who believes in the word “homophobia” to not watch — and to “swallow a plunger.” That was the “good” part. It gets worse.
On his recent “Race in America” show (no, not Soledad O’Brien’s series) Stan Solomon targeted “Jews, homosexuals, blacks, gays, Islamists” as “tools” of the left, “which is godless and serves Satan.”
But Solomon’s most vile and shocking comments came about LGBT activist and author Dan Savage, and Trayvon Martin.
Solomon told his audience (in all likelihood, not a large one) that “we’re mad at Trayvon Martin, that thug that deserves to be dead and I’m glad he’s dead.”
And then, Solomon — definitely not to be confused with the wise man of historical Biblical times — goes after Savage.
“Pieces of crap, homosexuals like what’s that one guy’s name? [Dan] Savage,” Solomon screams. “That faggot. That horrible, awful, terrible excuse for a human being who is at the White House promoting attacks on Christians. I hope he dies — he probably will — of every disease known.”
