‘Don’t Say Gay’ Senator Posts Image Of Pressure Cooker To Make Gun Control-Boston Bombing ‘Joke’

Stacey Campfield posted an image of a pressure cooker (above) to his personal website, with the headline, “Here comes Feinstein again,” a reference to U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein’s assault weapons ban bill. The Boston Marathon bombers used pressure cookers to create the bombs that killed three people, including an eight-yer old boy, and wounded well more than 200.

Campfield, a Republican state senator in Tennessee, is best known for his annual introduction of his infamous “Don’t Say Gay” bill that has repeatedly failed and drawn scorn and embarrassed the senator and his colleagues in recent years. He also has claimed it is “virtually impossible” to contract HIV/AIDS from  sexual intercourse between a man and a woman, and tried this year to slash welfare payments to families whose children don’t perform well in school.

Many commenters were not pleased.

What kind of insensitive imbecile thinks it’s okay to post a picture like this? Do you think it’s a joke? Three people dead, one an eight year old child and you think it’s something to laugh about? I really hope the people of this state start seeing who you really are and get your disrespectful sorry excuse for a human being out of the state senate!

The Huffington Post notes:

Campfield, who is notorious for proposing a “Don’t Say Gay” bill that would have required teachers to out gay students, later published a second post to complain about the complaints.

If my post was inappropriate talking about “crock pot control” then where is the outrage from the left when they push for gun control after the Sandy Hook shooting? Im sorry if I exposed your double standard….Well, not really!

On Tuesday, Knoxville station WVLT asked Campfield about the joke’s timing.

“People need to lighten up,” the lawmaker said. “I say it’s insensitive that people go after guns and [S]econd [A]mendment rights after the Sandy Hook shooting.”

In February, Campfield raised eyebrows when he engaged in a heated and insulting exchange with critics in the comments section of the Knoxville News Sentinel’s websiteafter the paper ran a reader-submitted letter criticizing Campfield.

Yesterday, Campfield wrote on his blog:

Thought of the day.

How come no one ever says its liberals who are bitterly clinging to their gun control and secular humanism?
