Anti-gay activist organization Minnesota For Marriage today released an email stating, “The Green Giant, Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Kix, and Trix have all declared war on Marriage.”

Minnesota For Marriage is closely tied to NOM, the National Organization For Marriage,  and anti-gay hate groups.
The group is decidedly worried, as polls show their attempts to add a ban on same-sex marriage directly into the Minnesota Constitution are failing.
The email, which asks for $20 from recipients, claims, “General Mills has made billions of dollars in marketing these cereals to parents of young children, and they have just declared War on Marriage here in Minnesota.” Which of course is a lie. No one is trying to end marriage. And claiming that extending marriage equality to gay and lesbian people ends “traditional” marriage is ludicrous on its face.
The email adds:
In what could go down as one of the stupidest PR decisions of all time, General Mills has pro-actively inserted themselves into a divisive social issue that flies in the face of their very business model.
A survey last year by the Alliance Defense Fund found that 63% of Americans with children living at home believe that marriage is ONLY the union of one man and one woman. Those are the very customers that General Mills has just insulted!
Aren’t you just sick and tired of big corporations ignoring your wishes to pander to special interests? It’s actions like those taken by General Mills that sometimes help me understand the whole “Occupy” philosophy against corporations that have lost touch with the people who have made them wealthy.
First of all, a conservative organization pandering to “Occupy” supporters? Wow. How desperate is Minnesota For Marriage?
Perhaps Minnesota For Marriage should recognize that supporting marriage equality and diverse families is the right thing to do. And I question the ADF poll. Frankly, I question that the poll results, as Minnesota For Marriage states, even exist.
Last year, the Alliance Defense Fund noted:
Results from what is likely the most extensive national research survey of its kind show that 62 percent of Americans believe that “marriage should be defined only as a union between one man and one woman.â€
I challenge Minnesota For Marriage to prove the Alliance Defense Fund poll that they claim states:
63% of Americans with children living at home believe that marriage is ONLY the union of one man and one woman
actually exists.
And claiming, “typo” is not allowed.
