8-Year Old Warns Mitt — Hands Off Big Bird: ‘You Find Something Else To Cut Off’

Mitt Romney‘s threat to defund PBS has ruffled a lot of feathers, spawning @FiredBigBird, @FiredKermit, and @BrokeElmo Twitter accounts. Eight-year old Cecilia Arlene Crawford from Alabama, who watched the presidential debate, wrote Mitt Romney an adorable letter explaining that when she was young she loved to watch “Sesame Street” — it was her “favorite show on earth” – and she wants her children to love Big Bird as much as she does. “They need Sesame Street where they can learn from it.”

During Wednesday’s Obama-Romney presidential debate, Mitt Romney promised to fire Big Bird. Romney, talking about the deficit early in the debate, said to moderator Jim Lehrer, “I’m sorry, Jim, I’m gonna stop the subsidy to PBS…. I like PBS, I love Big Bird — I actually like, you too — but I am not going to keep spending money on things [we have] to borrow money from China to pay for.”

“Save Big Bird and his friends,” Crawford pleads, demanding Romney “find something else to cut off.”

“When I grow up, I’m going to get married,” the young Crawford writes, “and I want my kids to watch it so do not cut it off. You find something else to cut off!”
