Rep. Allen West, a Republican Congressman from Florida, last night said “I believe there’s about 78 to 81 members of the Democrat Party who are members of the Communist Party.” The New Civil Rights Movement reported on this story earlier today, but now we’ve located the video.
Of course, I believe this is a lie, and Allen West can get away with telling it because he’s a Congressman, and because he said “I believe.” He can believe all he wants. I also believe for thew first time in a very long, long time, Congressman West next year will not be getting a government paycheck.
Of course, in his defense, a constituent (or a plant?) asked Congressman West the question. Of course, in the defense of sanity, he could have said it was a stupid question. Works both ways.
