Watch This Beautiful Trailer For Credence, A Sci-Fi Film Featuring A Same-Sex Couple
“Credence” — “the first Sci-Fi to challenge LGBT portrayal in film” — is a beautiful sci-fi short that shows the agony a same-sex couple faces as they decide to send their daughter to another world before Earth is destroyed.
The cinematography is beautiful. The story is compelling. The trailer is heartbreaking.
“Ever wondered what it might look like if a science fiction film presented LGBT people the way it should be done? Credence will be the first Sci-Fi of its kind to challenge the way gay characters are portrayed in film.”
So says a clip on the Indegogo account for “Credence.”Â
“Credence tells the story of a family torn apart during the last evacuation on earth after violent storms have made survival impossible. Hope has been found in the form of new worlds that support human life, however due to limited rocket capacity and life expectancy only children are permitted to evacuate, and even then – only the rich have ended up getting tickets. Our short film follows 2 fathers’ decision to make the ultimate sacrifice to give up all their possessions to ensure the survival of their daughter, and the entire human race.”
Director Mike Buonaiuto has a history of using film to advocate for LGBT equality. He is a co-founder of Out4Marriage, a campaign started in 2012 to bring marriage equality to England and Wales. (It worked.) He also worked with the Coalition for Equal Marriage.
Stephen Fry is a fan:
