Watch: America’s Most Ignorant Congressman Calls Supreme Court ‘Most Ignorant People In Washington’
Tea Party Republican Louie Gohmert clearly is America’s most ignorant Congressman. Gohmert is extremely upset about the Supreme Court’s ruling that found DOMA unconstitutional. Speaking with Janet Porter of Faith 2 Action, a radical right wing anti-gay group, Congressman Gohmert (R-TX) cited the Court’s claim that the “principal purpose [of DOMA] is to impose inequality, not for other reasons like governmental efficiency.”
Gohmert told Porter that “if these people [the SCOTUS justices] believe that, they are either the most ignorant people walking around in Washington, and that’s saying something. So they either lied, or they’re just totally ignorant.”
He concludes, “countries don’t last very long after you reach the point where their highest levels of government are being dishonest.”

Gohmert may not have a dishonesty problem, but he has an intelligence and an ignorance problem. We can’t fault him for his intelligence, but ignorance? This is the 21st century. There is zero excuse for not knowing basic facts and theories of modern life. Especially if you’re an elected official. Like a five-term U.S. Congressman. With a large staff.
Frankly, he is an embarrassment to the people of Texas, and to all Americans.
Here are a few examples.
One the hallowed floor of Congress, Gohmert fought the Matthew Shepard hate crimes bill by saying, “sexual orientation means exactly what it says… if you’re oriented toward animals… if you’re oriented toward corpses, toward children…â€
So his creation of “terror babies” — children born to anti-American parents in the U.S. “illegally,” specifically to teach their children to grow up and become terrorists, came as no surprise.
He has said homosexuality is “adultery, it’s sexual relations outside of marriage.” Gohmert has said “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” would be the “end of existence,â€
Gohmert called President Obama’s 2011 jobs bill “something nice he’s throwing out for gay folks,†and claimed it “takes a shot at traditional, conventional marriage.â€
He has claimed ENDA is part of President Obama’s ongoing war on religion.
Then, well, there’s this. Gohmert opposes gun control because he believes that same-sex marriage leads to polygamy and bestiality. To this day we haven’t been able to get the connection.
But to grasp Gohmert’s total ignorance, watch him try to understand how Gmail and Google ads work. This is classic Gohmert.
Finally, there’s this.
“We know Al Qaeda has camps over with the drug cartels on the other side of the Mexican border,†Gohmert said. “We know that people that are now being trained to come in and act like Hispanic [sic] when they are radical Islamists. We know these things are happening. It is just insane not to protect ourselves, to make sure that people come in as most people do … They want the freedoms we have.â€
I rest my case.
