Stacey Campfield, the Tennessee Republican state senator who authored the failed “Don’t Say Gay” bill and has now revived it, talked with reporters yesterday about homosexuality, stating it’s “an activity that can be deadly.” When asked, “In what way?,” Campfield responded, “AIDS kills people.”
Of course, HIV/AIDS is not in any way limited to gay people, and is just as easily spread via heterosexual sex — despite Campfield’s ignorant yet repeated comments that it’s “virtually impossible” to contract HIV/AIDS via heterosexual sex.
Also, why isn’t Campfield promoting legislation advocating for the teaching of “safer sex”?
“Being gay is not a dangerous activity,” Campfield also said. “The act of homosexuality is very dangerous to someone’s health and safety.”
