Conservative actress and Fox News contributor Stacey Dash is under the very mistaken impression that Republicans support same-sex marriage. The 47-year old star best known for her roles in the film and TV versions of “Clueless” shared her beliefs with TMZ.
“We are for equal marriage, we’re not against that, we’re not against that at all. We believe everyone should have the same rights,” Dash said.
“That’s just propaganda — that’s not true,” that the GOP opposes same-sex marriage, the Fox News contributor insisted. “That’s a certain amount of people, you can’t just throw a blanket over everyone because certain people have one opinion.”
But Dash, who calls herself a marriage expert, is dead wrong.
In fact, just 19 percent of Fox News viewers support same-sex marriage. That number increases to 36 percent among Republicans who don’t get the news from Fox News.
But overall among Republicans, just 37 percent support the freedom to marry, or “equal marriage,” as Dash called it, according to a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll. 56 percent of all Americans support same-sex marriage, including 67 percent of Democrats and 58 percent of independents.

Gallup finds that only 39 percent of Republicans believe homosexuality is morally acceptable, compared to 71 percent of Democrats.
Meanwhile, 77 percent of Americans overall under 30 support marriage equality. So, perhaps Dash isn’t wrong, just thinking way ahead.
