If you have to have a protester at your campaign event, this is the kind to have.
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was well into his campaign speech yesterday at a rally in Phoenix yesterday, when he looked up to see a young protester who had climbed up on a male friend's shoulders and taken off her top.
The protester, who identified herself as Annie Ma from Los Angeles, had "STOP FASCISM" scrawled across her back and "HATE SPEECH IS NOT FREE SPEECH" written on her front, with two strategically placed “Free the Nipple” stickers exactly where you imagine them.
The Washington Post reports that Senator Sanders paused briefly without comment as the woman was led to the back of the room, then returned to his stump speech, talking about Wall Street greed.
The protester, who was not arrested nor detained, was quickly surrounded by reporters. She insisted she was a Bernie Sanders supporter and claimed her intention was not to protest the Vermont senator. Annie Ma said Donald Trump was the candidate she had come all the way to Arizona to protest, but she had not been able to get into his event in Fountain Hills, Arizona, where demonstrators with their tops on had blockaded the entry road. Annie then decided she would do her protesting at the Sanders rally instead.
After all, she already had the stickers in place.
