CNN’s Piers Morgan took issue today with a bill that would establish segregation against gay people in Kansas.

The New Civil Rights Movement just reported on the bill — you can read how excruciatingly far-reaching the bill is, but here’s a quick excerpt:

In short, the bill allows anyone to refuse to provide service to any gay person or same-sex couple.

That “anyone” includes your doctor, a police woman, the fire department, the clerk at the DMV, a grocery store clerk, your local barber or hairdresser, your doorman, the person who comes to check your electric meter, a gas station attendant, your friendly neighborhood banker, stock broker, insurance salesperson, newspaper delivery person, cable repair man, garbage collector, heck — even your boss or co-worker.

Piers Morgan via Twitter calls the bill “GAY APARTHEID”:

Now, take a look at the above screenshot from Morgan’s Twitter page.

Given that the photo shows Morgan with the late Nelson Mandela, the man who is credited with ending Apartheid in South Africa, his use of the word “Apartheid” hardly is extreme or an exaggeration.

Isn't it also a workplace segregation law? Employers now have concrete reason to ask whether applicants and employees will serve all clients and accept all task assignments, and split out the "sincere believers" so they won't disrupt service.

If I've got 5 openings on a 25-person team, 2/3rds of whom are believers denying service to clients, I'm going to hire folks who are up to doing their jobs, and put people in specialized and leadership roles who won't back away from essential responsibilities.

But don't you dare criticize the way he treats his trans guests . . . :-P

Oh please, as usual, BLOGS get the facts wrong – Again. Ana Rivas Logan WAS a member of the School Board of Miami-Dade County UNTIL she decided to upgrade her status as a very partisan Republican State Representative. In 2010, because of redistricting issues, State Reps. Ana Rivas-Logan and Jose Felix Lopez were pit against each other in a very nasty (shame) primary in which Ana lost her seat to Lopez. Ever since then, Ana has been in the political "wilderness" as they say, and has been "itching" to get back to office – Any Office.

I for one, respect Democrats' and Republicans' convictions (those who are true to them, mind you) but I simply do not and will never respect someone who switches Parties simply because it may be "convenient" and with the possibility of grabbing a few and fleeting headlines.

What happens "when" or "if" Obamacare fails? Are we to expect Ana to switch Parties again, like Christ did?

Stay tuned.
