The Embodiment Of Religious Bigotry
Pastor At NJ Senate Debate Screams “Hallelujah!” As Gay Marriage Bill Is Defeated
Do you see the woman with her arms up in the air? She’s in the NJ Senate’s annex room, reacting to the announcement of the gay marriage bill’s defeat. She isn’t crying because the bill was defeated. She is screaming, “Hallelujah!” as the bill is defeated.
The woman is reportedly a Pastor at Solid Rock Worship Center, in Clementon, NJ. Her bio on their website says,
“Her favorite Scripture is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you sayeth the Lord, plans to help you, not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Evidently, in Pastor Aughtney Khan’s eyes, “you,” only includes straight people. Ah, yes, the embodiment of religious bigotry at its finest.
I found this video, by the way, over at Out Front Colorado. They so aptly write,
“Cheering for discrimination is bad enough in and of itself. But this person is not only a woman, but an African-American woman. So you presume she as at least two stati which make her the object of discrimination. And her freedom to be in that chamber, to express her beliefs (bigoted as I may think think they are) in a public forum, are a direct result of people standing up for her rights. And plowing through people like herself who hid behind religion, and tradition, and some abstract “moral†fabric which simply serves to segregate and oppress.”
See for yourself. And please, share this and your comments.

Despite my rantings about the unfair, one-sided, and dereliction of duty I see from the publishers at NJ.com, I have to give the folks there some credit. This video captures so much of the reaction from yesterday’s marriage equality vote in New Jersey.
