Last night’s “Stand With Scouts Sunday” featured Family Research Council‘s Tony Perkins, Texas Governor Rick Perry, Republican U.S. Congressman Steven Palazzo of Mississippi, pastor Robert Hall of Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho, and several boy scouts. The event was broadcast into churches around the nation and designed to teach ordinary citizens how to “prevent” the Boy Scouts of America from allowing the inclusion of gay people into its ranks.
While the entire event was an exercise in hypocrisy and lying, Right Wing Watch did an excellent job of pulling together excerpts that give an excellent idea of what the event was really about.
In this short video, you’ll hear pastor Hall say America is approaching the end times, or the “end of the age,” as he calls it. You’ll hear that gay people are unclean, and cannot be trusted to not sexually abuse, rape, or molest heterosexual Boy Scouts.
You’ll also hear hate group leader Tony Perkins lie about supposed mounting evidence that the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has harmed America’s military, which is false, as studies prove and America’s top military leaders have stated there has been essentially no negative impact on our troops.
Are these the people Americans want deciding what the Boy Scouts of America should become?
