“Get Back to Basics!”
As the country mourns the lives lost in its latest mass shooting, Donald Trump took to Twitter late Saturday to use the tragedy to further his attacks on the FBI.
“Very sad that the FBI missed all of the many signals sent out by the Florida school shooter. This is not acceptable,” the president wrote. “They are spending too much time trying to prove Russian collusion with the Trump campaign - there is no collusion. Get back to the basics and make us all proud!”

The attack follows reports such as the one below, from CNN:
The FBI failed to act on a tip about Nikolas Cruz, the confessed shooter in the Parkland, Florida, school massacre, the bureau said in a statement on Friday.
A person close to Cruz contacted the FBI on January 5 to report concerns about him, the FBI said in a statement Friday. But the bureau did not appropriately follow established protocols in following up on the tip.
"The information was not provided to the Miami Field Office, and no further investigation was conducted at that time," the statement said.
Twitter was quick to weigh in yesterday after Trump used the tragedy in Parkland for a tone deaf photo-op, and once again after the president utilized it to attack the FBI:
The FBI's Florida office didn't prevent the Parkland shooting, but unlike Gov. Rick Scott and the majority of GOP lawmakers, they aren't paid off by the NRA to blatantly ignore the problem we have. 19-yr-old mentally-ill kids shouldn't be able to buy semi-automatic rifles.— Ed Krassenstein (@EdKrassen) February 17, 2018
No, Donald Trump, it is very sad that you are too cowardly to initiate gun reform, and instead use the Parkland tragedy to attack the FBI and further your narcissistic corruption. pic.twitter.com/YInWR1lpON— Dani Bostick (@danibostick) February 18, 2018

What a tweet for the president to send out from his private club 45 minutes up the road from the Stoneman Douglas shooting scene https://t.co/xIVjDPmOEw— Mark Berman (@markberman) February 18, 2018
Note that Trump first blamed the shooting on the Parkland community itself for failing to report the shooter.— Tuxedo Mask (@TheLoveBel0w) February 18, 2018
Once he found out he was wrong, he then basically said the dead kids would still be alive if he wasn't being investigated by the FBI.
This should be a bigger deal. pic.twitter.com/OVW9IoJ1Rl
