Josh Duggar, the eldest son of TLC’s “19 Kids And Counting” is moving to Washington, D.C. to head the political action arm of Tony Perkins’ anti-gay hate group, FRC Action. The Family Research Council is listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an anti-gay hate group. The eldest Duggar sibling and his wife, Anna, just celebrated the birth of their third child.

Teasing the announcement, Perkins said, “We want to congratulate Josh and Anna Duggar on the birth of Marcus. They have been an inspiration to millions of Americans who regularly tune in to see the Duggar family’s show. All of us at Family Research Council have long appreciated their devotion to the pro-family movement.”

Josh Duggar talked about the possibility back in March. “Josh confirmed that he will be working with a Christian organization to help promote ‘family values and right to life.’”

GLAAD weighed in yesterday:

Duggar said that he will be working on the 501c4 side of the organization, which is more politically driven. He can’t even claim he’s just going to shape the culture.

Now that Josh Duggar has accepted a position at such an anti-gay organization, he has become a full-fledged anti-gay activist. What does this mean for TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting? Will TLC allow it to become a mainstream outlet for FRC’s dangerous message? What about the Duggar family’s appearances in other media? Will his work with one of the most vile anti-gay organizations in America be legitimized there?

“If Josh Duggar wants to make a living dehumanizing and denigrating LGBT people and their families, that’s his business, but FRC’s lies and stereotypes need to be treated as such,” said GLAAD Spokesperson Wilson Cruz. “Josh’s new boss Tony Perkins has actually accused LGBT equality advocates of being pawns of the devil.  Fans of his family’s reality show ought to know that.”

Josh Duggar is clearly enamored with the Tea Party and the rabidly anti-gay right. A quick glance through his Facebook photos shows him arm in arm with Republican extremists Rick Santorum and Rand Paul.

Jeremy Hooper at Good As You adds:

But don’t even try, TLC network, to position Josh’s story as something that should warm the fires within my own heart and home. That ship has sailed. This TLC star is going to be paid to spearhead a quest that seeks to diminish, if not completely extinguish, all that I hold dear within my own marriage, family, and home. Forget carefully edited reality TV—for me and millions of others, this crap just got really real. For real.

His actions are not a surprise to me. He comes from a family that pops out kids with no regard for our over populated planet just because they figure they'll stop when God tells them too. To them anyone who is in a relationship that does not produce a herd of kids has to be evil.

I bet that with as many children as they have, that there has to be a gay child or two. If so, the poor child is probably doomed to lead a depressing and frustrating life in the closet or hated by their family if/when they come out.

I don't know much about this family except they have 19 kids and have raised them on TV. They are all home schooled based on the Bible. This leaves them out of the mainstream. I see them as a cult. Brainwashing their offspring to reject the real world could be considered abuse. 2 of the 19 are likely to be LGBT and will suffer a horrible life in the closet and more than likely take that frustration out in the form of joining anti-gay groups. Joining the GOP at this point would be bad as they are killing themselves. They will be welcomed by hate groups and encouraged to do the same with their spouse and offspring. What a sad existence.

So he's taking the opposite path of Sarah Palin, who went from politics to reality TV. Let's hope he enjoys as much success as the former half-term governor of Alaska.

Looks like he's a chip off the old block: no real life skills, attention whore, sponges off the rest of us by getting fat sucking off hardworking normal people like a tick. In a twisted sense, he's like that Kardashian woman or Paris Hilton, he is famous because we know far too much about his sex life.

I think you guys are reading too far into it. Josh's family teaches about morals and values and helping people.
I think Michelle and Jim Bob have raised their kids properly, and having 19 kids is no easy task, and I think Michelle and Jim Bob's brood do really well for themselves.

Oh my Celeste, it sounds like you have been a product of brainwashing too. I don't mean to sound rude, but it sure seems like you are living in a fog.

hannah8259 June 20, 2013 at 7:32 am

Yuck! That's all the world needs is another brainwashed holy roller. With having 19 children this family is sure to have a child or two who are gay/lesbian. That poor child will be doomed to assume a life of misery pretending to be something they are not, live a life of guilt in the closet, or dumped by their family if they do come out. In any case, it will be a miserable existence. How is it that there are so many nut jobs out there? The whole idea of religion just seems to be one of hatred disguising itself as "love, " either that, or man has poisoned it from it's original intent. A true loving God would not treat "his/her creations" the way many of these nutty religious groups do. I don't want a part of that kind of a God.
