Watch: Mike Huckabee Defends Forcing A 10-Year Old Girl To Give Birth To Her Rapist's Child

GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash that he would have forced a young girl who was raped to give birth to her rapist's baby.

Speaking Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union," Gov. Mike Huckabee was referring to the now 11-year old girl in Paraguay who was allegedly raped by her stepfather when she was 10 and denied an abortion.

"Let's not compound a tragedy by taking yet another life,” he said.

"A 10-year-old girl being raped is horrible. But does it solve a problem by taking the life of an innocent child? And that's really the issue," Huckabee said.

He insinuated that the 11-year-old girl would feel guilty after having an abortion.

“When an abortion happens, there are two victims. One is the child; the other is that birth mother who often will go through extraordinary guilt years later when she begins to think through what happened -- with the baby, with her. And again, there are no easy answers here," Huckabee said.

"I just come down on the side that life is precious; every life has worth and value. I don't think we discount the intrinsic worth of any human being, and I don't know where else to go with it than just to be consistent and say, if life matters, and that's a person, then every life matters," he said.

He noted that he has a friend whose mother was raped, and if he had been aborted, his contributions would have been lost to the world.

The 11-year old in Paraguay did give birth a few days ago after being denied an abortion by Paraguay's authorities, where abortion is banned except in cases where the mother’s life is endangered.

Amnesty Americas Director Erika Guevara said in a statement that the fact that the girl did not die "does not excuse the human rights violations she suffered at the hands of the Paraguayan authorities, who decided to gamble with her health, life and integrity despite overwhelming evidence that this pregnancy was extremely risky and despite the fact that she was a rape victim and a child."
