Today, gay couples throughout the country were trying to temper their soaring hopes for marriage equality by reminding themselves the Supreme Court’s decision is far from certain. It was not quite as visible, but there was consternation on the anti-marriage equality side too. Think Progress took a camera to the pro-traditional marriage rally outside the Supreme Court today, and asked the senior-citizen protesters how they felt same-sex marriage was threatening their own marriages, which has long been a contention of their side. I am sure once gay and lesbian couples hear their heartbreaking tales of suffering, they will urge Mr. Olson and Mr. Boies, the lawyers challenging Prop 8, to withdraw their challenge immediately.
