Man Who Saved Gabby Giffords’ Life Isn’t A ‘Real Man’ Because He’s Gay, Says Arizona ‘Group’

The man who saved Rep. Gabby Giffords‘ life isn’t a “real man” because he is gay, claims a “group” trying to recall Daniel Hernandez from his elected seat on a local Tucson, Arizona school board. In January of 2011, three-term Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head by a madman who killed six people and injured 13 more. Daniel Hernandez was Congresswoman Giffords’ intern and on the scene, just feet away from her that day. His actions literally saved her life.

“Put a ‘Real Man’ on the Sunnyside Board,” urges a poster attributed to an unknown “group” called Sunnyside Recall 2103. Daniel Hernandez is LGBT. We need someone who will support Sports and cares about our kids,” reads one poster. (Apparently we need someone who understands grammar and spelling in Tucson.) “We don’t need someone who hates our values” it concludes.

“We don’t need a high-flying school board member,” who “cares about only one things taking your guns away” (yes, as you can see it really says that) reads another poster.

Hernandez is being targeted because he is gay and because he supports responsible and common sense gun legislation.

There is some evidence to believe that “Sunnyside Recall 2103″ is really a man named Marcos A. Castro, as he is the one who filed the recall petition (PDF).

“The story behind the recall is the kind of byzantine saga found only in local politics,” Right Wing Watch reports:

Four of the five members of the Sunnyside Unified School District, which includes parts of Tucson and surrounding areas, are now facing recall petitions – two members who faced recall for their support of an embattled schools superintendent turned around and filed recall petitions on two members, including Hernandez, who opposed the superintendent.

But the tactics being used against Hernandez are clear as day. A source in the district sends us two flyers that Hernandez’s opponents are reportedly handing out to parents dropping their children off at schools in the district. Right Wing Watch repeatedly tried to contact Marcos Castro, the manager of the effort to recall Hernandez and brother in law of school board president Louie Gonzalez, to discover whether the flyers came from his campaign, but Castro refused to take our calls.

The parasitic illiterate leech that made that grotesque propaganda wouldn't know what a real man was even if its worthless life depended on pointing one out of a crowded room of males wearing sports uniforms.

I didn't realize the tunic and sandal wearing hippy Jesus was a butch muscle man football player who grunts and occasionally smacks other men's asses for moral support? I guess he wasn't a "real man", right you homophobic illiterate barbarian?

A "real man" doesn't hurt others, either physically, verbally or mentally. A "real man" helps others succeed in any situation. I guess those that criticize Daniel Hernandez are not "real men" but cowards that are self righteous, uneducated and hypocritical.

Absolutely disgusting! Where do these people get the nerve to say something like that about a person? Hernandez risked his life to save Giffords', but that gets wiped away because he's gay? Is that all some people can think about?

It is clear the person or people who made these posters have a callous disregard for life. These are people who think their right to own a gun supersedes other people's right to safety.

where do these people get this kind of idea and what to say , Towanda ?

From the repub mouthpieces like their moral majority (anything but) Limbaugh, who Goebbels would probably have hired as an assistant in 1933. (LImbaug on 4th wife, Rove on #2, Gingrich on #3

Toss in BAchman, Coulter etc etc I actually looked up Roves name to see if he was German but no dice on that one – no info avail.

Repubs whose goal is to capture the least educated in our society -, the most racist and homphobic etc

Todays my comment about eg Repub Bush JR – he beat Ann Richard for TX gov years ago by having his pals put signs on cars in conservative churches showing two men kissing and saying "this is what THEY want to teach your children"

it was both homophobic and racist – one of hte guys in the pix was black.

Repubs still trying to restart the civil war. Yesterday some where on the web, I read that someone is going t o put up a giant confederate flag 2 miles south of Richmond VA on the major N – S highway Rt 95

As most of us prob remember, Richmond was the capital of the confederacy. And here in central MD not to far from Baltimore, its not unuusal to see cars with confederat flag stickers and hte theme – "the south will rise again. MD was a slave state kept in the union by the army to protect DC It still has a lot of very backward people

Exactly! We know where they get the ideas. I just don't know how these people don't have the scruples to realize that what is pedaled isn't ok.
