A homophobic mother in Long Island used a seven-year old girl’s birthday party invitation sent by her two gay dads as a forum to express hatred of gay people.

So the same-sex couple, two dads from Baldwin, New York, decided to send the anti-gay mother’s response to local radio station K-98.3.

“You’re invited to Sophia’s 7th Birthday Party,” the invitation reads.

“Tommy will NOT attend,” the mother wrote on the invitation. “I do not believe in what you do and will not subject my innocent son to your ‘lifestyle.’”

“I’m sorry Sophia has to grow up this way. If you have an issue or need to speak to me call *** ****,” Tommy’s mother, Beth, wrote.

(We’ve removed the phone number even though it’s in the original photo.)

K-83 writes on Facebook that Beth “gave us permission to post her phone number and said anyone who has a problem with what she wrote can call her, too!”

Wouldn’t a simple, “I’m sorry but Tommy’s busy” have sufficed?

This woman has a wounded heart. I feel sorry for someone who is this bitter.

Poor Tommy- having a mother like Beth! I'd love to hear her explain to Tommy why he can't go to Sophia's party… because Jesus!

To the woman who penned the homophobic rant:

In your self-righteous rage, you may have thought you were sending a message to the two men who sent the invitation, but what you really did was intimidate and humiliate a seven-year-old girl. Kids are not stupid. Do you think the child does not know what you did? If your concern really was for your son, you should have simply declined politely and left it at that. Going off on a rant the way you did showed a total lack of class, manners, and decency.

I hope your arrogant, self-righteous self is satisfied that you had to stoop to humiliate a little girl to appease your God. Whom you do not really know; the God you claim to worship is a sadistic monster and you did a great job in emulating that.

There's a word for women like you. Rhymes with *hunt.*

Authoritarian thinking never considers the "other" as equal to them.

This woman's mind lacks social awareness and if she were to be ostracized from the community she would quickly change her views.

She is doing this because this is what she thinks her community does. What her community needs to do is show her how wrong she is.

There's a good possibility this is a hoax. I'm not interested in our community being used and embarrassed again.

Um, PLEASE, New Civil Rights Movement, can you VERIFY THIS STUFF before you post it as fact? To me it has HOAX written all over it, just like that woman who said she got the homophobic thing written on the receipt at the restaurant where she was a server.

New Civil Rights Movement, you have a responsibility to check these things out before you blindly post them. I'm gay. When things like this turn out to be hoaxes, it gives actual real bigots reason to say "SEE, there's no REAL homophobia out there, any more." It makes it look like us gays are making up all of the bigotry we see and feel.

It's interesting how Beth chooses to make a point of letting the two dads 'understand' how wrong they re, to the point of even leaving her phone number. Is that because she sincerely believes she can talk them out of their 'misguided' ways, take a holy grail stand on 'correct' parenting, a stand against same sex liasons or because she is daring you to prover her wrong?

Really do two children playing together care if one parent approves or disapproves of another's lifestyle? Isn't this in essence how children end up growing thwarted in the first place?

Update: This was a HOAX by the radio show.
