Today is Laverne Cox’s birthday, so what could be better than being on the cover of Time magazine? “The Transgender Tipping Point: America’s next civil rights frontier” is Time’s cover story.
“Nearly a year after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, another social movement is poised to challenge deeply held cultural beliefs,” the story’s subhead reads. “Laverne Cox has gone from being bullied for acting feminine as a kid in Mobile, Ala., to starring in Orange Is the New Black and becoming a public face for the transgender movement.”
Cox posted the cover and a note to her Facebook page:
Congratulations Laverne, and happy birthday!
