‘Jesus Would Stone Homos’ Says NYC Pastor

New York City pastor James David Manning claims that “Jesus would stone homos” because “stoning is still the law.” In his latest video posted today he sets out to “prove” this “biblically-accurate conclusion.”

Asking his fellow preachers to “push back Satan’s teaching that ‘God is love,’ that there is no wrath, that there is no hell,” Manning says “we all know that is the most illiterate way of approaching the Scriptures as possible.”

Manning has a history of strong anti-LGBT rhetoric. Using his website, Facebook page, and Twitter account to support his church, which apparently has a mailing address in Harlem, Manning records anti-LGBT video messages for his ATLAH Media Network: “All Jesus, All The Time.”

Joe Jervis, who first posted the video, rightly notes:

We’ll stand by for Christian leaders to denounce Pastor Manning, but don’t hold your breath - there was nothing but silence last month.

Whoever created this sign is wrong….twice! First of all, stoning is part of the Law. The Law is superseded by Grace. Secondly, Jesus would not stone anyone. He had the opportunity to do that with a woman who had committed adultery. His response was, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." So, instead of accurately quoting Scripture, this sign is based on the sinful desire to continue wallowing in the sin of homophobia and misusing the Bible to justify that.

Christians executed gay people for thousands of years, so it's not like this Pastor's theology is at all fringe by historical standards. We need to acknowledge that Christianity is a very dangerous and violent religion, that happens to be experiencing a lull in violence right now in some countries. That doesn't mean it won't become violent again. Just look at its sister religion, Islam.

Jesus once met a homosexual man who's partner was dying. And he saved the partner. Let's face it, he didn't HAVE to do anything, he could have denounced the whole thing and been done with it. Lies. All lies.

Go ahead you chicken MF'er. Start stoning! THEN let's see what the REAL law of the land is!!! In fact, start with me! I'll send my address, just let me know if you need it!

If these sorry "christians" believe in their "scripture" so strongly, bring it! I'll wait for you!

Cherry-picking biblical scripture to support one's personal bigotry and hatred is as intellectually lazy as it is dishonest. If you truly believe that the Bible represents the word of God, then you should follow ALL of its pronouncements literally, even those that contradict other passages.

Better start stockpiling your stones–you'll have a whole lot of casting to do…

Social conservatism is apostasy, the antithesis of what Jesus taught. Radicals have invaded and now occupy leadership roles in the Republican Party and in religion. These radicals are attacking our Constitution, and all of the holy books.
