Democratic Governor Pat Quinn will sign the newly passed Illinois marriage equality bill into law at 3:30 p.m. November 20.
The governor’s office issued a statement today announcing a signing celebration at the University of Illinois’ Chicago Forum, which seats 3,000 people. The event will be open to the public.
“Marriage equality is coming to Illinois.” Said the governor’s statement. “I look forward to signing this landmark legislation on Nov. 20 and celebrating a big step forward with the people of Illinois.”
The law will take effect the first of June, the traditional wedding month. Stand by for the photos of a lot of happy couples!
