A new Quinnipiac poll is giving hope to Virginians who want to get Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli out of their bedrooms.

In the race to replace disgraced Republican governor Bob McDonnell, Ken “Keep Sodomy Illegal” Cuccinelli is losing to Democrat Terry McAuliffie by 6 points, 48-42. This lead is well outside the poll’s margin of error, which is 2.9%.

“Think about these numbers folks,” MSNBC’s Chuck Todd told viewers of The Daily Rundown, “Terry McAulliffe has been pummeled in the media over the last month, has had a rough ride, and he is still up. If you are Ken Cuccinelli, you have to be wondering if there’s anything that will overtake him.”

Notably in the poll, Cuccinelli, who relentlessly attacked women’s rights as Virginia’s Attorney General, is losing the women’s vote 50%-38%.  Unfortunately, Quinnipiac does not break down the gay vote.

ken cuccinelliThe poll goes on to say voters have a 41% – 35% percent unfavorable view of Cuccinelli and disapprove of his performance as attorney general 46%-42%.

Election for Virginia governor will be held November 5.

Do you happen to know if Cuccinelli loses (which he likely will). Does he still get to keep his job as Attorney General?

Does he need to be running two simultaneous campaigns- gubernatorial and AG (just in case)?

Or are these votes at different times?

Sorry not familiar with Virginia voting laws and was curious if you know.

Willa, The Spoogenelli would have to run simultaneously for both offices. Mark Herring (D) and Mark Obenshain (R) are running for AG.
