Wyoming has defeated a same-sex marriage equality bill in committee, but moments later advanced a domestic partnership bill. The marriage bill suffered a close defeat, 5-4, and the domestic partnership bill won by a 7-2 margin.
“Testimony against the bill included threats that gays are pedophiles and that same-sex activity damages colons. Hopes were high that there was bipartisan support for the legislation to pass,” Zack Ford at Think Progress reports.
The domestic partnership bill will still have to move through regular legislative steps and ultimately face a Republican governor.
