Fox News religion “reporter” Todd Starnes had a meltdown last night during the Grammys, as Queen Latifah married 33 same-sex and opposite-sex couples in a mass wedding. Just before the ceremony, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ offered a fantastic performance of their hit, “Same Love,” with Mary Lambert. Then, as Queen Latifah asked the couples to exchange rings, Madonna sang her 1986 hit song, “Open Your Heart.”

All this was far too much for Starnes, who has been labeled a liar by a Christian blogger for his piecemeal, cherry-picking “reporting” that tries to paint President Barack Obama and the U.S. Military as waging a war against Christians.

So, last night Starnes went into overdrive on Twitter.

I wonder how many of the useless, septuagenerian fat-asses who watch Fox are actually church-goers.

I find that when the Religious Right-Wing Nut-Job Terrorists finally get a bit of their own medicine with the public tide of sentiment finally swinging to equal rights and protections under our great Constitution as afforded to all but hijacked by the "moral majority" for so many years having their temper tantrums that would put the spawn of Satan to shame…says and does far more to enlighten middle America than any publicity campaign those who champion equal rights could ever do.

I will never understand people like this. They absolutely boggle my mind. How exactly do the relationships of these people affect him in the slightest? The answer is they don't. Nothing that was said at the Grammy's could possibly be construed as hateful. It was a celebration of music and love. Christians need to get over this reverse victim complex. No one is refusing services to them and denying them marriage rights because of their personal beliefs. No one at the Grammy's is advocating an overthrow of the Church.

My tweet to Mr. Starnes last evening: @toddstarnes Hilarious. No one gives a flying fuck about your 3500 year old moronic fairy tales. Damn.

Wow! Dude blew a gasket! What Grammy's was he watching? I thought it was beautiful. It went by too fast for my taste but great to see all the love.

Jeez. What's he complaining about? I gotten used to Fox News embracing and promoting intolerance, bigotry and hated.

SeanLiberty13 January 27, 2014 at 10:45 am

Nope. Intolerant, hate filled, anti-freedom, Nazi barbarian Todd Stupid – I mean Starns of Faux News which gives Joseph Goebbels a run for his money.

Todd Starnes is not being an objective reporter. Of course he works for FOX and objectiveness is discouraged at that network. But more than that, he sounds similar to the 1837 Georgia plantation owner who complained that his slaves were disrespecting the Bible when they expressed a desire to be free.

People like this guy just make the gay rights movement a favour. He's sounds like such a lunatic that I'm sure even a few of his 'followers' get turned off by it.

So…singing about all love being beautiful is suddenly anti-christian? Wasn't that kinda…y'know…what Christ was all about? That crazy 'love' shenanigan? Pretty sure the only times Macklemore and Ryan Lewis say anything about Christianity in "Same Love" are:
1. Criticizing people who try to play God
2. Saying that they learned as children that hate wasn't welcome in Church.

So…pretty much the two things you just did there, chief.

Your move, Mr. Starnes.

1) "I've never seen such a display of intolerance, bigotry and hatred." Was he in Church at the time? This is usually where all three of these take place. Besides, both straight and gay couples were married, so where is the intolerance, bigotry and hatred?
2) "Here it comes – the Grammys are mocking marriage." How is it mocking when it was actually legal?
3) "The Grammys mock God, marginalize the Bible." Marriage existed long before the Bible and was not a privilege of God.
4) "Remember when The Grammys was about music – and not cramming a social agenda down our throats?" Remember when religion was about love, compassion, tolerance and acceptance?
5) "Macklemore launches a hate-filled, bigoted, intolerant diatribe against Christians." So sayeth the hate-filled, bigoted, intolerant diatribe Christians.
6) "Sick". Beautiful!
7) "This was not about marriage. This was about bashing God and the church." Such insight from a guy who bashes the real intent of God and the church. Genius!
