Dr. Ben Carson: Abortion Is ‘Human Sacrifice’
Dr. Ben Carson is at it again. This time, instead of attacking gay people, he’s claiming that abortion is “human sacrifice.”
Ben Carson is a brilliant physician. Now retired, he was the director of pediatric neurosurgery at the highly-prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital. Yes, the man is literally a brain surgeon.
Perhaps that’s why it’s so disturbing that Dr. Carson, a darling of the Tea Party, routinely unleashes such dramatic, caustic, and off-the-wall pronouncements.Â
Last spring Carson — in his highly-offensive manner — equated homosexuality with bestiality and pedophilia, claiming LGBT people have no right to marriage.Â
“No group, be they gays, be they NAMBLA [the North American Man/Boy Love Association], be they people who believe in bestiality, it doesn’t matter what they are, they don’t get to change the definition. So it’s not something that’s against gays, it’s against anybody who wants to come along and change the fundamental definitions of pillars of society.”
The next month Carson proclaimed that white liberals are “the most racist people there are.†Later that fall Carson called Obamacare “slavery.”
And now, he’s opining on abortion.
Right wing radio host Perry Atkinson, hosting Carson recently, said that if America could just end abortion, “all of the other things that God would be interested in helping us with would fall into alignment.”Â
Carson’s response?
“It’s interesting that we sit around and call other ancient civilizations ‘heathen’ because of human sacrifice,” Carson said, “but aren’t we actually guilty of the same thing?”
Right Wing Watch notes that Carson “has no problem endorsing candidates who support abortion rights in order to win votes.”
