White House Blasts Bernie Sanders and His Single Payer Health Care Bill While He’s Introducing It
Sanders Blasts Back
In real time, literally during Senator Bernie Sanders’Â press conference in which he was announcing his new single-payer health care bill, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders attacked it, falsely saying if the American people supported it the independent Senator from Vermont would have been elected president.Â

Huckabee Sanders also falsely claimed the only reason Senator Sanders was not the Democratic nominee was because he pushed for a single-payer health care plan.
The White House press secretary is wrong. Last month a Quinnipiac University poll found 51 percent of Americans support “a single payer system in which Medicare covers every American citizen.”
Huckabee Sanders also said the “single-payer system the Democrats are proposing is a horrible idea.”
Toeing the Republican line, she added, “I can’t think of anything worse than having government more involved in your healthcare.”

Sen. Sanders has 16 co-sponsors for his single payer bill, along with at least two dozen organizations supporting it.

And ironically, Senator Sanders after the short White House press briefing had concluded, was still speaking at his press conference, and blasted the GOP on health care:
