Watch: Sarah Huckabee Sanders Says It’s ‘Premature’ to Talk About Guns
‘Our Thoughts and Prayers Certainly Are With All Those Individuals’
Sarah Huckabee Sanders says it’s “premature” for any discussion on gun control in the wake of the nation’s deadliest mass shooting Sunday night, which left at least 58 people dead and 515 injured in Las Vegas.
“Today is a day for consoling the survivors, and mourning those we lost. Our thoughts and prayers certainly are with all those individuals,” Huckabee Sanders insisted. “There’s a time and place for a political debate, but now is the time to unite as a country,” she said.Â

“There will be time for that policy discussion to take place but that’s not the place we’re in at this moment,” the White House press Secretary added.

“It would be premature for us to discuss policy when we don’t fully know all the facts or what took place last night,” Huckabe Sanders said.Â

She went on to repeat that today was a day of mourning, not a day to discuss policy.Â
Huckabee Sanders refused to say when would be a good time to discuss gun reform.
The director of Guns Down America posted this tweet earlier today:
Today is the 275th day of 2017.

Meanwhile, Democratic lawmakers are demanding action of gun control, with some Senators saying it’s “time for Congress to get off its ass,” and others accusing Republicans of “cowardice.”Â
