Watch: Planned Parenthood Terror Attack Suspect Appears In Court
Robert Lewis Dear appears before a judge for the first time since Friday’s terror attack on a Colorado Planned Parenthood.
Robert Lewis Dear appeared via video before a Colorado 4th Judicial District Chief Judge Gil Martinez minutes ago, with his court-appointed public defender. Dear, 57, is the man suspected of killing three people, a police officer, an Iraq War vet, and a mother of two, on Friday at a Planned Parenthood. This afternoon he was charged with first degree murder. He will not be released on bond.
The Denver Post reports “Dear wore a bulletproof vest and his hair and beard appeared unkempt.”

Dear faces possible death penalty charges, or could receive life in prison if convicted.

Today’s hearing was preliminary. Dear will appear before a judge again on December 9, ten days from now, when the official charges will be filed.

Citing its law enforcement sources, ABC News reports “the Justice Department is building a domestic terrorism case against Dear, though it would only move forward if somehow the state capital case was sidetracked.”
That’s news, especially in the face of U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s statement over the weekend on Friday’s attack, calling called it “unconscionable,” and “a crime against women,” but not mentioning terrorism.
Dear reportedly did tell police, “no more baby parts,” after surrendering on Friday. He also, according to a neighbor, had strong anti-Obama beliefs and wanted the President impeached.
