Watch: George Takei Is Selling ‘You Can Pee Next to Me’ Tees (Video)
“If you show your support with one of these shirts, well, urine my good graces.†–George Takei
George Takei is helping promote “You Can Pee Next to Me” tee shirts to bring awareness about HB2, North Carolina’s illegal and unconstitutional law that bans transgender people from using restrooms that correspond with their gender identity, and to benefit a North Carolina LGBT non-profit.
Takei, a beloved actor, author, LGBT activist, and social media presence, wore the shirt today as he interviewed two transgender people to help others understand transgender people’s lives.
“Wear this shirt to let the whole world know that you’re not down with House Bill 2, and you believe that all people have the right to use the restrooms that align with their gender identity,” reads the website selling the shirts Takei is helping promote.
“Funds raised from the ‘You Can Pee Next to Me’ shirt support Equality North Carolina, an organization that’s dedicated to securing equal rights and justice for LGBTQ North Carolinians, the ones affected by this legislation. Join George Takei and countless others who show their passion and support for this cause. If you’re going to take a stand against discrimination, you might as well look good while you do it, right?”
You can see and buy the shirts here.
There are 25 days left for the site to reach its quota before the shirts will be produced and sent. It’s already 18 percent to its goal of 2000, so looks likely they’ll make it!
Here’s Takei interviewing Dana and Wayne live earlier today:
