Republican U.S. Senators are reacting to news four women are alleging Roy Moore engaged in inappropriate behavior with them when they were in their teens.

Early Thursday afternoon The Washington Post published a bombshell report of the four women who all allege inappropriate behavior by Republican U.S. Senate nominee Roy Moore when he was in his 30's. One includes a woman who says when she was 14 years old Roy Moore took her to his home, stripped to his underwear, and tried to get her to touch his penis.

None say he had sexual intercourse with them. The woman who was 14 at the time "is the only one who says she had sexual contact with Moore that went beyond kissing," the Post says.

"If these allegations are true, he must step aside, "Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says, according to Politico.

Alabama's U.S. Senator Richard Shelby attempted to distance himself from even having to comment.

“It’s a nasty story, I don’t know anything about it,” said Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) Asked if Moore should withdraw, Shelby said, “Let’s see how the story runs."

Pressed further on the issue, Shelby said, “I supported Sen. Strange, you all know that.” He was referring to Sen. Luther Strange, whom Moore defeated in a Republican primary.

GOP Senator Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania told Politico, "if there’s a shred of truth to it then he needs to step aside.”

Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said: “I’m horrified, and if this is true he needs to step down immediately.”

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) had two responses: “I just heard ... what I heard was not good.” When informed of the allegations, he told Politico's Elana Schor, “I hope that’s not true, let me put it that way.”

    Moore denies the charges.
