Trump Uses Killing of NFL Linebacker to Pave Way for Announcement of His New Immigrant Vetting Center
President Uses Killing to Attack Democrats
President Donald Trump is using the tragic death of NFL linebacker Edwin Jackson – killed Sunday allegedly by an undocumented immigrant driving while intoxicated – ahead of his announcement he will sign a memorandum later Tuesday creating a National Vetting Center to control immigration. Specifically, to control immigration from countries Trump does not like.
So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson. This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!

CBS News’ Mark Knoller first noted the link:
In advance of signing National Vetting Center directive, @POTUS uses tweet to make his case for such an agency. https://t.co/X63Hbr9TOl

Trump, sadly, is also using Jackson’s death to attack Democrats, rather than to respectfully honor Jackson. Also missing from Trump’s tweet, aside from empathy, is that Jackson’s Uber driver was also killed.
Only later did Trump attempt a more appropriate tone.
My prayers and best wishes are with the family of Edwin Jackson, a wonderful young man whose life was so senselessly taken. @Colts

So, what’s this National Vetting Center?
“It’s unclear how this effort will change the way travelers and immigrants to the US are vetted,” CNN reports. “While the center’s efforts are largely expected to focus on visa applicants, immigrants and others looking to enter the US, the center will also look to streamline vetting of certain individuals who are already in the US, including those subject to deportation proceedings, according to the National Security Council official.
Trump during the campaign talked about the need for “extreme vetting,” while lying about the process immigrants – and especially refugees – go through to get into this country.Â
