Trump: I Was Using ‘Sarcasm’ When I Insisted Repeatedly Obama, Clinton Are ‘Founders of ISIS’
Republican Tries to Walk Back Offensive Comments as a Joke
Donald Trump now says he was using “sarcasm” when he, repeatedly, called President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the founders of the terror group ISIS. The Republican, who has suffered devastating self-inflicted set-backs in his quest for the presidency over the past three weeks, spent the past 48 hours not only calling the two top Democrats the founders of ISIS, but eschewing opportunities friendly conservative media hosts have given him to clarify or walk back his allegations.

But early Friday morning Trump, as he so often does, took to Twitter to attack the media for promulgating what he now calls “sarcasm,” hitting CNN specifically for reporting the candidate’s own words:
Ratings challenged @CNN reports so seriously that I call President Obama (and Clinton) “the founder” of ISIS, & MVP. THEY DON’T GET SARCASM?

ISIS has literally killed untold thousands of people around the world, and inspired terrorists in the US and in many other countries to execute acts of barbarism in its name.
This report on CNN Friday morning, just a half-hour before Trump’s tweet calling his attacks “sarcasm,” may have sparked his flip:
Trump doubles down on his comments that Obama and Clinton co-founded ISIS. @AthenaCNN reports. More –> @CNNPolitics https://t.co/s7fy6AgUBo
