Trump Considering Recording Robocalls and Sending Out Emails to Help Roy Moore Win Senate Seat
President May Use His Office to Support Republican Accused of Sexual Assault
President Donald Trump is considering doing everything he can, short of traveling to Alabama, to help campaign for Roy Moore, the Republican Party’s embattled nominee to fill an open U.S. Senate seat. Moore stands accused by nine women of inappropriate  behaviors, including child sexual assault.
Politico reports Trump “might use the weight of his office to help elect scandal-tarred Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore.” That would include recording robocalls and sending out emails and text messages to Trump’s supporters in a final attempt to help Moore win. Trump won Alabama with 62% of the vote.
Just last week the president was considering visiting Alabama to campaign with Moore, but the White House says that will not happen. Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, the publisher of what he calls the home of the “alt-right,” Breitbart, has endorsed Moore and will campaign with him.
Moore is facing allegations from nine women who say he pursued them when they were between 14 and 18 years old, and he was in his 30’s. The actions described include child sexual assault, sexual assault, and inappropriate behaviors. Moore denies the allegations, and President Trump, who wholly supports Moore, has defended him.
Trump himself is facing allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior from at least 16 women.
