Trump Says He Has Ordered Homeland Security to ‘Step Up Our Already Extreme Vetting Program’ After NYC Attack
‘Being Politically Correct Is Fine, but Not for This!’ Trump Says
President Donald Trump late Tuesday night claims he has ordered the Dept. of Homeland Security to “step up” his “Extreme Vetting Program,” hours after a 29-year old man allegedly drove a rented truck down a Manhattan bike path in an act of terror, killing eight people and injuring 11 others.Â
The president made his claim on Twitter and offered no details. The suspect came to the U.S. from the former Soviet Russia nation of Uzbekistan – a country not on Trump’s travel ban list – in 2010.
I have just ordered Homeland Security to step up our already Extreme Vetting Program. Being politically correct is fine, but not for this!

Trump’s claim seems to be all talk.
On Twitter, many were quick to challenge Trump:
The terrorist is from Uzbekistan, part of Putin’s police states: More evidence that tyrants fuel terror, and produce massive radicalization. https://t.co/tTsXHOAVT6

Others were only too happy to school the president on his grasp of the details of the attack:
Know the facts #MAGA, the driver was from Uzbekistan, part of former USSR and a Russian ally now. We need to keep Russians out of US. https://t.co/1kjnukLP9N

The terrorist is from a country called Uzbekistan, part of Russia & the Soviet Union for the last 200 years before independence in 1991. https://t.co/gB4gAQ4okQ

And Rachel Maddow did a segment on Uzbekistan:
