Trump Claims Credit for China Releasing 3 UCLA Players: Will They ‘Say Thank You President Trump?’
‘Do You Think the Three UCLA Basketball Players Will Say Thank You President Trump?’ President Trump Asks
The Tweeter-in-Chief is back on American soil, and wasted no time posting insane tweets Tuesday night, starting in the 11 PM hour, then continuing Wednesday morning in the 5 AM hour. After posting a message to the victims and families of the Sutherland Springs, Texas massacre over a week ago, promising “The FBI and Law Enforcement has arrived,” and deleting it hours later, Trump posted and retweeted other ludicrous tweets.
And then, at 10:11 AM, the President all but demanded a “thank you” from three just-released UCLA basketball players who allegedly were accused of shoplifting sunglasses while in China.Â
He also did so, strangely, in the third person, referring to himself as “President Trump.”
Trump claims he personally intervened to secure their release, The Washington Post reported Tuesday, and wrongly claimed they were facing 10 years in jail.
Do you think the three UCLA Basketball Players will say thank you President Trump? They were headed for 10 years in jail!

The Post notes at most the players would have faced two or three years in jail, likely far less if any jail time if they admitted guilt.
Far right wing activist Laura Loomer, recently banned from Uber and Lyft for horrific comments about Muslims, effectively demanded Black Lives Matter thank Trump, because the three athletes are Black:
When will the “Black Lives Matter” movement thank @realDonaldTrump for getting 3 black men freed from jail in China? https://t.co/TlupQfqwZB

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes responded to the President’s tweet:
What an absolutely appalling thing for the American president to say about American citizens https://t.co/Lfd2W9EYpm

The Nation’s sports editor Dave Zirin did also:
This tweet reveals so much about your character. You are a needy child.

Former Republican, journalist Josh Barro:
