  • Santorum: We Won't Fix The Economy Until All Children Have Heterosexual Parents (Video)

Rick Santorum sure has some unique ideas about economics.

Rick Santorum was asked by a Fox Business moderator about the rise in single mothers, saying studies show children generally do better "with two parents," so naturally the former Pennsylvania Senator decided to take a swing at same-sex families during tonight's GOP Debate.

"Should the government be doing anything about family formation?," the Fox Business moderator asked.

"You know we've had this debate about the economy," was Santorum's response.

He then launched into a rant about children of single parents growing up in single parent neighborhoods and going to single parent schools and not performing well, and blamed it on political correctness.

Santorum, who is hovering between zero and two percent in both national and battleground state polling, said the American economy won't be fixed until every child has a "mom and dad" who love them.

Santorum then told the audience that the president should use the bully pulpit to launch a national campaign to "rebuild the American family." He insisted the economy will not be fixed until "every child" has "its birthright, which is a mom and a dad who loves them. That will change this economy."

    Note Santorum didn't say "parents."

Lots of ideas that don’t really affect each other. Income inequality isn’t going to be fixed by having a mom and a dad. You might be more successful but then the job you’re leaving would be filled by someone else who would then be suffering the wage gap. The economy would need to be fixed separately. Secondly, how do you propose we start ensuring families have 2 parents? I’d really like to hear a plan. And if you’re implying it must be heterosexual, well, you’re wrong about that. You raise some real issues here but you don’t seem to have any legitimate answers. Anyone can do that. Maybe you should work on some ways that single family homes can still provide successful pathways for children to prosper because, sorry to break it to you, you can’t make parents stay together. Unless your plan it so pour money into relationship counseling?

When legalizing same sex marriage actually helps the economy: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/15/same-sex-marriage-economy_n_3267725.html

That’s right. Every child should have a mom and dad. Therefore all widows and widowers with children must be forced to marry a new opposite sex spouse within 2 months of the passing of their former spouse.

Rick has been eating his own Santorum again and is tripping his face off.

How does he impose to enforce this rule. How are you gonna make someone “love” another person? Will he create a new agency to go around and verify that every child feels loved? This is the one of many out of touch statements the right continues to promote. This is why their party is falling apart. Keep trying to divide our great country. Go back under your rock.

Sad thing folks, there are people who will believe this nonsense. Some are supposed to be leaders. What does that say about the bar we have set for our leaders?

He is hovering between zero and two percent in both national and battleground state polling for a reason.
