Roy Moore Told a Joke to ‘Prove’ Teaching Evolution Causes Kids to Commit Drive-By Shootings
‘They’re Acting Like Animals Because We’ve Taught Them They Come From Animals’ Moore Says Falsely
Roy Moore is an old-time Southern politician. Much like stand-up comedians, he frequently opens his speeches with tall tales and amusing anecdotes he weaves into an opportunity to make his audience more receptive while helping to get his point across. It’s an old trick and it works.
CNN’s Christopher Massie, part of the network’s KFILE investigative team, on Thursday posted to Twitter a 1997 video of Roy Moore doing just that.
Moore opens with a condescending albeit funny joke about scientists and uses it to morph his way into an attack on Evolution.
Wanted to share a video of Roy Moore in 1997 arguing that kids commit drive-by shooting because they are taught evolution in school: “They’re acting like animals because we’ve taught them they come from animals.” pic.twitter.com/YoHZXKfpAl

“We have kids driving by shooting at each other that they don’t even know each other,” Moore told his church audience. “They’re acting like animals because we tell them they come from animals. They’re treating their fellow man with prejudice because we taught them they come from animals. Not from God, who despises that sort of thing.”
The claim is not only false and illogical but downright offensive if not insane.
Remember, President Donald Trump has given his full and unqualified endorsement to Roy Moore, a man credibly accused by nine women of child sexual molestation, sexual assault, inappropriate behavior, and the pursuit of teenaged girls.
