Trump’s National Security Advisor Just Admitted His Boss Lied to ‘Open a Debate’
That Whole Muslim Ban Thing? Well…Maybe?
Five days after two terrorists shot and killed 14 people at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, Donald Tump held a press conference and said, “Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the hell is going on.”
He quickly clarified that his ban would include Muslims who are U.S. citizens out of the country on, for example, business or vacation.Â
Over the next few months Trump repeated his call for a ban on all Muslims. As recently as yesterday Trump’s spokesperson Katrina Pierson stated the Muslim ban was still part of Trump’s policies.
But now, Trump’s national security adviser has announced that Trump merely called for a ban on all Muslims – something that made international headlines, is grossly unconstitutional, and been used in recruiting videos by ISIS, putting America at risk – was merely something he did to make a point, to start a conversation. He didn’t mean it, it’s not real.
In other words, Donald Trump’s national security adviser just admitted his boss lied, and his lie put the lives of every American at risk.
“In an email exchange with The Hill, Trump’s national security adviser Walid Phares sought to clarify Trump’s position,” The Hill has just reported.
Phares “argued that Trump’s original proposal to temporarily ban Muslims was necessary in the chaotic moments following the San Bernardino shootings in order to ‘raise the issue and open a debate about it,'” The Hill continues. Phares does not seem to have given his boss cover for all the many, many times he repeated his call for a ban on all Muslims over the past 6 months.
The Hill adds that Phares “says…Trump can be expected to take a more nuanced approach on Muslim immigration going forward.”
He calls it “natural” that the “principle” of “a general ban will evolve into narrower policy suggestions during the campaign, and eventually when Mr. Trump is elected, he would direct the agencies and work with Congress to develop precise policies to detect the actual Jihadists. His statements were not against any community but warnings that the terrorists are penetrating every group they can.”
What other extreme rhetoric can American voters expect from Donald Trump?
Should Democrats lie and say, “Yes, we’re going to take your guns away,” so we can pass gun control legislation?
Responsible politicians do not repeatedly spew lies so dangerous ISIS uses them in recruiting videos.
Every American, especially Muslim Americans, should be outraged over this new development. Glad there supposedly, maybe will be no actual Muslim ban (maybe, who knows) if he gets elected, but outraged he put us all at risk.Â
How can anyone vote for someone when you don’t know what he stands for?
