  • Colorado Elects Republican Exorcist Who Believes Gay People 'Want Your Soul'

Colorado just elected a former Navy pastor who tried to exorcise President Obama of demons and believes gay people are soul stealers. And that's just for starters.

Voters have cast their ballots and in perhaps the most stunning race in the nation, Colorado has elected Tea Party Republican Pastor Gordon Klingenschmitt to represent them in the State House. And this wasn't even a close race. "Dr. Chaps," as he likes to be called, who, as ordained Pentecostal Minister runs the Pray In Jesus Name Project, won with a reported 70 percent of the vote

Representative-elect Klingenschmitt says that while a Navy pastor (he "left" the military under dubious circumstances) he "exorcised" the "sin" of homosexuality from many gay and lesbian service members.

But military members weren't his only subjects.

He claims he exorcised a woman who had been raped of the "foul spirit of lesbianism," and even says he has performed an exorcism on President Obama.

Klingenschmitt says gay people "want your soul."

"They won't be satisfied with your money. They don't really want the t-shirts. They want your soul. They want you to disobey God so that you go to Hell with them. It's not enough that they go to Hell for disobeying God, they want you to disobey God so that we all go to Hell. That's the Devil's goal in the end."

He says that gay people are "cooperating with the Devil," and that "there is something unhuman inside of them," and insists same-sex marriage is child abuse.

"What is the most cruel thing you can do to a child? After physical or sexual abuse, the most cruel thing you can do to a child is take away their mother. That's how homosexual 'marriage' causes child abuse, by taking away the child's mother (or father) and telling the child 'your need for a mother is less than our right for homosexual pleasure.'"

In 2012, Klingenschmitt said President Obama was working on creating “homosexual bonus pay” for LGBT service members in same-sex relationships, and gay people were “stealing” kids and wanted to “recruit children into homosexuality.”

Over the summer, Dr. Chaps sent supporters an email claiming gay Democratic U.S. Congressman Jared Polis will "join ISIS in beheading Christians, but not just in Syria, right here in America." He was forced to respond to attacks from his own party, so he stated “some Democrats do not have a sense of humor” and don't understand "hyperbole."

And last year, Klingenschmitt claimed that neither two men nor “three women and a dog” are going to “mate” and have a child — and that’s why gays have to “recruit the children of heterosexuals,” to “propagate the gay species.”

Right Wing Watch has a lengthy profile of Dr. Chaps, should you care to learn more.

Well that’s just stupid……gays are not like that at all it’s a stereotype one: gays are not evil and they do not make a deal with the so call “devil”. two: republicans are making more and more of a big deal out of things and casing drama

Says the guy that believes in a soul reaving god. Your only purpose to your god herr Klingenschmitt is to become a soul that he collects. I highly doubt you will get to ask your god about the truth in the end though. I hear your Hell has a lot of openings for Pharisees and zealots like you.

Any man who is this rabidly homophobic is at war with his own sexual identity.

Yes! We want your souls!!! We are coming for them! And your children, we want them, too! We will conquer and seize humanity as our slaves! What a dumbass! I am in no way saying that we here in NC have the best government, far from it actually, but JEEZ! I’d be embarrassed to be a contributing factor in electing this moron!

As a Catholic/Christian I am so tired of stupid ignorant people. I do not think being gay is a sin, I am 100% for gay rights.

Christians who do think it is a sin, I say this to you first, “don’t judge people because they sin differently then you”.

Second and more importantly, in the 10 Commandments that you learned in Bible school, tell me which one says “and homosexuality is a sin”. Don’t give me the well if you interpret such and such this way it could mean. I don’t want to hear YOUR interpretation.

      Pentecostal you say…
As a recovering one myself, this doesn’t surprise me one bit. Pentecostals I ran with back in the day could tell you the names of demons and what each of them’s forte sin was. Try to get them to prove where a spirit of homosexuality was, and you’d get the stare.
Sick people, glad not all faithful christians (or pentecostals even) are like that.

Puhleeze. I mean, sometimes I will steal someone’s voice, but I trade them a pair of human legs for three days so it’s a good deal. They sign a contract and everything.

The sad thing about this is he’ll have some Americans believing his rhetoric.

Which doing so would still not make you an exorcist.

In the bible one of Jesus’s teachings was that a true believer in Christ will do the same works that Jesus did in the gospels which includes casting out devils, (Mark 16:17).

Your article is incorrect Representative-elect Klingenschmitt is not an exorcist. Exorcist must be Bishops or priests who have been authorised by the authority of the local diocese to perform exorcism. Klingenschmitt is merely a dabbler in the occult arts. The word “exorcist” has a precise meaning. You should not purposefully misuse it just to generate a sensational headline.

I live in Colorado Springs, this man’s district is extremely evangelical and will vote Republican no matter what they say or do. This man could have campaigned in a KKK outfit carrying a burning cross shooting a gun and screaming about gays coming to take your soul and HE STILL WOULD HAVE WON. Fortunately we do have some reasonable people in Colorado Springs and sent two Democrats to the State house along with the crazy one. Ultimately he’ll get nothing done because neither party has any time for his crazy, he’ll get headlines for being crazy but he’ll get nothing done.

So, Colorado legalizes pot…then elects this guy. I wonder if there is a correlation…

I hope the people who voted for him and those who stayed home get everything they have coming to them.

This gay person hasn’t seen a scientific, peer reviewed study with empirical evidence proving anyone has a soul. So there’s that.

I’ve seen some truly sick people, but this guy really takes the cake – a perfect candidate for a psychiatric intervention.
