British Prime Minister and House of Commons Members Condemn Trump’s Anti-Muslim Hate Tweets
‘It Is Wrong for the President to Have Done This’
President Donald Trump has created yet another international incident with America’s strongest ally. Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May, a conservative, on Wednesday condemned the American president’s retweeting of hate videos originally posted by the UK’s Jayda Fransen. Fransen heads Britain First, a far-right, neo-Fascist, Christian fundamentalist, ultranationalist British anti-Islam extremist group.
“It is wrong for the President to have done this,” Prime Minister May’s spokesperson said in a statement, The Telegraph reports.
“Britain First seeks to divide communities through their use of hateful narratives which peddle lies and stoke tensions,” the statement continues. “They cause anxiety to law-abiding people. British people overwhelmingly reject the prejudiced rhetoric of the far right, which is the antithesis of the values that this country represents – decency, tolerance and respect.”
Earlier Wednesday in the British House of Commons, members discussed Trump’s tweets, with several expressing outrage:

Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn also condemned Trump’s tweets:
I hope our Government will condemn far-right retweets by Donald Trump. They are abhorrent, dangerous and a threat to our society.

In September Prime Minister May rebuked Trump for his response to a terror attack in London, and Scotland Yard called Trump’s remarks an attack on London’s police.Â
