Breaking: Ruth Bader Ginsburg Apologizes for ‘Ill-Advised’ Comments on Donald Trump
Supreme Court Justice Says She Regrets Comments
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has just apologized for comments she made about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump. The 83-year old de facto head of the progressive wing of the Supreme Court calls her remarks in interviews with The New York Times and CNN “ill-advised,” and says she regrets making them.Â
JUST IN from Ginsburg:
My comments on Trump were “ill-advised and I regret making them. Judges should avoid commenting on candidates.’— Robert Barnes (@scotusreporter) July 14, 2016
“On reflection, my recent remarks in response to press inquiries were ill-advised and I regret making them. Judges should avoid commenting on a candidate for public office. In the future I will be more circumspect,” Ginsburg said, according to Washington Post reporter Robert Barnes.

Trump had responded to Ginsburg’s comments with tweets like this:
Justice Ginsburg of the U.S. Supreme Court has embarrassed all by making very dumb political statements about me. Her mind is shot – resign!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 13, 2016
Ginsburg had called Trump a “faker,” and commenting on a Trump presidency invoked something her late husband said: “Now it’s time for us to move to New Zealand.â€Â
She also had said, “I can’t imagine what this place would be — I can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our president,†to The New York Times in an interview published Sunday. “For the country, it could be four years. For the court, it could be — I don’t even want to contemplate that.â€
